With social media being so big as it is, it is easy to look around and feel behind. You see people who are richer, fitter and more successful than you everyday on the internet, and that can really make you take a look at yourself.
You may feel you’re behind, that you’ve wasted a lot of time..
But the truth is : comparison to will never end. There’s always going to be someone who is better at something than you. Peace begins when you stop competing with people on the internet, and instead compete with the person you were yesterday.
Perspective is important. Everyones timeline is different, and everyone moves at a different speed. You might still be in chapter one, meanwhile they’re finishing chapter ten. And both chapters are equally beautiful, just being different stages of growth.
Everyone is going to compare themselves to other people, whether they want to, or not. But it’s what you do with comparison that matters. A good way to see it is:
- What can i learn from them?
- What habits of systems of theirs can i implement?
Turn comparison into curiosity – A way to improve, not punish yourself.
Focus on yourself
The more you look sideways, the less you move forward. Seeing rich people on social media and feeling bad about it doesn’t help your own growth. Instead – focus on your own lane, track your own progress and keep showing up for yourself.
Gratitude
You can’t be grateful and envious at the same time. Write down what you have, what’s working for you and how far you’ve come. While building a future is important, staying grounded in the present makes you appreciate where you’ve come so far.
Final thought
Comparison is the thief of joy, but also time and energy. But when you realise that you’re not in a race with anyone but yourself, life gets lighter, and your focus sharpens.
Keep growing and let your success speak for itself.
